Voice Testing | Setting: Trench

In The City-- a general prompt for anyone at the beach

He didn't know what 'home' was any longer.

Tenya Iida had resided in Trench long enough for the seasons to change-- the heat and coastal humidity of summer had slowed into a brisk fall that had Tenya instinctively looking towards starting a new semester at UA, a continuation of his life, his duties, and his ongoing education to become the Hero that his brother was. Yet, in Trench, Tenya found himself in a rare situation where he could exist by his own terms... as Tenya, not the man who was to become Turbo Hero: Ingenium when he attained his licensure.

It was strange. He wasn't sure how he felt. The only matter he was certain of was that Trench needed more help than was available within the city itself.

... Oh, how his classmates at UA would hardly be surprised if they could see him now.

The little cat that had appeared by his side when he arrived, a calico he had taken to calling Tama after an old Shinto deity of the subways, was curled in the hood of his jacket while he jogged over the shoreline that brisk morning and mused over what had become of his life.

Although his world still needed 'Ingenium'... Trench needed anyone with the will and heart to be a Hero.

Needing A Hero-- A fighting prompt

The Moon Presence was the only sign of hope amid the desolation of the Beast attack that had befallen Trenchwood. Corruption ran rampant through trench, and at times it felt as if the surges rose and fell with the ebb of the tide. Having grown up on an island nation, Tenya was no stranger to the power of the tides-- and it was chilling how chaos rose and fell within that pattern. Speed may have been his gift, but not even he was fast enough to help the architects and agriculture workers from saving their fields.

Fires ate through the crops, and Tenya was taking one last lap around in search of any stragglers. Food was important-- but survival was moreso. Spotting a figure at the far end of the field, he skid to a stop, heels kicking up dust and ash, and frantically sought to get the individual's attention.

"Hey, let's keep moving! It's not worth it to stay any longer!"

He'd carry them out if he had to. No one was going to get left behind

He'd been on this beach for awhile now himself. Coming and going every so often since he got here. He had chosen to come back to Deerington...Trench...whatever this place was. Why? He's not even sure he could pin down the reason to be honest. Still, this whole place had a whole other gloomy vibe to it with there being no sun.

There's not much to do other than think about if the right choices were made, if even he made the right choices. He supposes at least he knows his choices have all been pretty crap for a long while now. Either way, he's taking the time and the quiet for what it's worth. At least right now there were no monsters.

He had found a large boulder by the water and sat up on it, skipping smaller stones he had collected on the water front. He might've done this for awhile until he heard someone's footsteps approaching. He raised a brow, turning towards the noise before he see's a boy running his way. For a moment, he's quiet as he looks at them confused. He's pretty sure he's not seen this kid before not in Deerington anyways. Was he a citizen?

No. That didn't track either; the guy's clothes didn't look old fashioned like the rest of the people's here. Even he knows he stands out like a sore thumb with how his own clothes didn't match the time period this place seemed to be stuck in. So, he lowers his hands and places them behind himself as he leans back on the boulder to look the other guy over.

"So. Newbie? Veteran? Or am I just hallucinating you?" Great way to start a convo.

He can't help but stare a bit in bewilderment at the pure fact he was seeing someone who looked like the weight of the world had not crushed his spirit. Glitch still kept his own stony, neutral expression not really offering much of a grin their way. It doesn't bother him with the other guy's friendly demeanor but it's telling. He hasn't experienced what this place could be like and that would hit hard quickly.

He does take another look at hos the other guy gestures and...well...robotic would be a good word to use. As for their question, Glitch shrugs slightly. "You would be surprised what this place can do to you. I have had a few conversations with hallucinations but usually it's about how I'm a bad person or how they're miserable or whatever.

You know? Whole guilt trip kinda thing. That or they just try and scare the shit out of you," Glitch answers bluntly. However, he does move off his boulder and steps towards the taller figure. He stops only a foot in front of them and well, gives a good firm poke to Ida's chest.

"Yup. Solid. Okay, you're real," he says though it's more to himself than a direct comment towards Ida himself. Though he does look over to look at the cat popping in and out of the other boy's hood. "You normally drag your pets in your clothes on runs with you?"

A few blinks because well, what was with that grin. He can't help but look a little confused but he decides to brush it off.

"Not really. I've had my fill of being psychologically tortured for awhile. Besides, the town would be losing it's edge if you were to torture me," Glitch remarks with a small shrug. What he means by that? Who knows.
Either way, he shoves his hands in his pockets still looking over the other guy.

There's at least some recognition when he hears that honorific; Usagi had told him it was a thing in Japan. As for the cat though, he finally gives a small nod as the answer satisfied his curiosity enough. "So...you are a new guy. From Japan, yeah? Has anyone filled you in about the place?"

Though, he pauses for a moment before pulling his right hand out of his pocket and offers it towards the taller guy. "Name's Glitch. What about you?"

"Huh?" He answers a question with a questioning statement. What did Ida mean by that? There's a moment he's not really sure what to say but; fuck it. He shrugs and in response, "Oh. Just that you're good looking. Can't really torture me with a face like that." Cool, calm. Not even a moment of hesitance because whatever. He's been turned down before and with everything that has happened in Deerington? He's not going to get embarrassed by stupid crap.

However, maybe he should've expected this response after the handshake. A bow soon afterwards. It's nothing that really ruffles his own feathers but he does give the other guy a curious look. He must be one of those easily flustered types....oh boy. If Chloe were still in town? This guy would be easy pickings for tease town from her.

Still, he frowns as Tenya explains and Glitch turns and gestures him to start walking with him. Might as well get some exercise out of this conversation. "Yeah, can't really tell you much about this place other than it's been sorta created by the last place all the Sleepers were in before? It's complicated. Smashing eggs were involved. But, yeah, this place alllllready kinda sucks without the sun," He remarks somewhat tiredly.

Though partway through that thought he does look up towards Tenya. "What do you want me to call you anyways? Tenya? Or Iida? I was told people from Japan usually go by their last name first if you're not friends? Or am I wrong?" Might as well set up the boundaries now before he starts referring him as Tenya.

There's something of a grin on his own face that creeps up on his face seeing Tenya blush. More of the fact he managed to embarrass someone in only a few words because it's not hard to catch onto that. He just smirks and shakes his head before looking ahead.

Maybe he'll push buttons later but for now he'll focus on the actual topic at hand. "Right, Tenya. Good to know. Anyways, just call me Glitch." It's pretty easily said as he keeps walking but for the time being he figures he should at least question this guy a bit more.

"So. Considering I'm your impromptu guide of the history of this place, you have any questions you need answered? Can't say I'll be the best at it but I can try."

He might have come upon a tall figure clad in a black cloak over a long leather robe,
stooped down, pulling a bone-like sword from the body of a Beast. The figure straightens up, wiping the blade clean on a bit of cloth produced from inside its garments. The figure lifts its head, turning toward Tenya, revealing a face like that of a large corvid, though closer inspection reveals it as a mask with eyepieces of tinted glass.

"Still too many Beasts," the figure says in a gruff voice. It turns its face briefly back to the dead Beast before kicking the corpse. "One less to contend with."

"Well, that's what we've been doing," Glitch answers the question as he moves along. His eyes turn to Tama for a moment buried in that hood and well, he just reaches over to give the small cat a scratch under the chin. Just one before he pulls his hand away.

Glitch however did notice how Tenya kept looking at him. It's enough to make him confused if not apprehensive and well, he's never one to hold his tongue. "What? Did I freak you out for calling you hot or something? You keep looking at me like I'm going to die."

The corvid-clad stranger emits a soft grunt of agreement. "Let the fire take the damned Beasts," he grumbles and sheaths the sword in a back sheath, leaving it loose for a quick draw. "And you are the one rallying the Hunters to shield the common-folk?"

Man, this guy was sure easy to rile up wasn't he? Either way, he decides not to push it any further for the time being. After all, if he did he may just end up with a potential enemy and well, he doesn't want Maulmageddon 2.0 anytime soon.

However, he does look over with a raised brow and shrugs his shoulders at the offer. "Uh. Nope. Never had it. I mean, I've had rice but not curry. Whatever that is." Still, he looks ahead towards a staircase that would lead back up to the road from the beach as he points over to it. "Supposing your suggesting we get something to eat so I can keep filling you in, right?"

"Safety in numbers: one of the oldest of humanity's tactics. I may prefer to hunt alone, but times will come when one must forgo one's preferences," the other replies, falling in step with Ilda. He glances about slowly, like a crow keeping an eye out for predators. "Is it known how these fires started?"

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2021-07-16 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Nope. Kinda had a lot to deal with at home and here to ever even have curry," Glitch answers simply at the other guy's frazzled disbelief. Not much time to really learn to cook in a town that's constantly under threat of horrors or in his own world where food is a nutrition bar. Either way, Glitch does quirk a brow a little at Iida's enthusiasm to the topic.

His first thought is the guy must really like curry; Especially with how sporadically the guy moved his arms around. As for the whole when to eat it, Glitch still raises a brow. "I mean, food is food is food. Does it really matter when you eat it if it tastes good?" A very important question.

Either way-

Nice for company though? He sort of stares a little. "Can I get a recording of that? Mostly because if anyone I told anyone I knew about someone saying that they probably wouldn't believe me." A small joke but hey. He has to poke fun at himself somehow.

After all, he's pretty sure if someone like Ozpin were to hear that he might be skeptical for the briefest of moments. Not unfair, considering Glitch had kicked the man's door down to get him and a giant tin man to sort their feelings out.

Well. That definitely throws him a little bit. He could almost believe that might be flirting if not for the fact how Iida seemed to be so methodical about his choice of words. He just laughs a little bit and shakes his head. "Well, I'll take it at least. Rough around the edges? Yeah, that fits to a fuckin' T for me," he answers with a small chuckle in his throat.

There's a lot to unpack there in that one question. It feels like he thinks it over much longer than the moment actually does hang in the air. Honestly? He was still trying to wonder why people even wanted to talk to him. This place and people had an effect on him that he never expected. He brings a hand to his blue hair and tucks one of the strands behind his ear before he finally shakes himself from the thought.

"I was mostly joking. I know I'm great company, just some people would definitely joke that I'm not," he says simply with a small shrug thrown in. "Ruby would definitely tease and say I have no sense of what's cool considering I make fun of her superhero comics," Glitch adds as he continues to walk. Better to direct it in that direction he thinks.

If it wasn't one freaky world he was finding himself in, it's another. He finds himself wandering the beach of this new landscape, missing the amenities of normal life. This was new and exciting and all, but there's something about air conditioning that just can't be replaced.

He can see a figure further down the shore, jogging along its edge. Yosuke can't fathom exercising at a time like this, but some people are just real go getters like that. He waves as they approach, grinning at the man.

"Hey! Slow down for a sec would ya?"
